About
David Gordon is a software developer and multimedia artist specializing in interactive systems for scientific and creative visualization, multimedia installations, and cultural heritage research. His work blends creative design with technical engineering, focusing on translating complex data into intuitive, engaging experiences.
In his industry roles, Gordon has contributed to innovative development teams across the VR and media sectors. At Dreamscape Immersive, he helped develop Dragon: Flight Academy, a multi-user, narrative-driven VR experience built in Unity. At LA Photo Party, he engineers and maintains a suite of cross-platform desktop and web applications for high-performance photo manipulation and media sharing, utilizing technologies such as C#, .NET, AWS, and custom multimedia pipelines.
Gordon’s independent projects reflect his interests in ecological systems, digital preservation, and immersive storytelling. Future Mountain is a Unity-based 3D simulation that visualizes watershed dynamics and climate scenarios using scientific data. PictoScan is a mobile app that enhances faint or degraded imagery—such as rock art—through advanced image processing techniques.
When not developing software, Gordon volunteers his technical expertise to assist archaeologists and conservationists in documenting and protecting indigenous rock art sites. This work aligns with his interests in photography, local landscapes, and cultural history.
He holds a Ph.D. in Music Composition and an M.S. in Media Arts and Technology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
